KamAlive Cashew Cream Egg
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soy, Refined Sugar Allergens: Cashews, May Contain Peanuts
Taste Test: Fantastic. Deep, dark and mature. 80% Criollo Cacao solids deliver premium quality chocolate complimented wonderfully well with Lucuma, Date Nectar, Tumeric & Rock Salt flavours. This luxury cream filled egg effortlessly banishes any lingering regret about the tragic murder of the previously beloved Cadbury Creme Eggs. Not cheap but worthy of indulgence. Eat slowly with a teeny tiny spoon.
The Range: There are also Orange Cream filled eggs! The Cashew Cream Egg was so very, very good that I ordered Orange Cream Eggs within moments of discovering they existed. Can they possibly be even better? I will find out soon. Have you tried them?
D&D Chocolates Mini Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Nuts, Soy Allergens: None!
Taste Test: 55% Cacao Solids are joined only by Sugar, Vanilla and Sunflower Lecithin for a super simple ingredient list. The solid little eggs are wonderful to bite into and full of strong cacao flavour. Rather than being entirely smooth and creamy they appear to have a slightly granular texture. This may be due to use of granulated sugar. I loved them.
The Range: D&D Chocolates offer a variety of full sized and mini Chocolate Eggs all with the same superb free from credentials. They have Raspberry Crumble Mini Eggs! Added to basket. There is also a range of Easter Eggs made with Carob. For free from credentials, D&D Chocolates are unbeatable.
Where to Buy? Direct from D&D Chocolates, also in-store at Whole Foods
Plamil No Added Sugar Mini Half Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Nuts, Added Sugar Allergens: Soya
Taste Test: Very different to most. There is a earthier cacao flavor. Sweetness from the Xylitol is subtle but there to savour. Thankfully there is none of the cool mint aftertaste that Xylitol can sometimes give. Let these melt in the mouth to fully appreciate. Marketed as a “treat for kids of all ages”. I endorse this as a kid 41 years young.
The Range: The Plamil Easter range features both regular and mini-eggs. Both sizes are available as Organic Fairtrade or as the Xylitol sweetened No Added Sugar variety. Plamil have fantastic free from and ethical business credentials. Their production facility is completely vegan and entirely free from gluten and nuts. Buy from Plamil and feel good about doing so, then enjoy the chocolate.
Moo Free Cheeky Orange Egg
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soya, Wheat Allergens: May Contain Hazelnuts
Taste Test: Orange crystals infused into the chocolate shell produce an authentic chocolate orange flavour. Rice powder substitutes for milk to ensure creaminess, and it works. Gentle, orangey, creamy, chocolatey and simply sweet.
The Range: The Cheeky Orange is joined by a Honeycomb, Original Organic and all new Caramelized Hazelnut Egg. All are free from Gluten, Dairy, Soya and Wheat. Visit the Moo Free range.

Coco Caravan Caramel Filled Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soya Allergens: Cashews
Taste Test: Caramel filled eggs? I was ready to protest. These are half eggs, not full. Fortunately the promised caramel is present within each half. The 72% cacao solids content means these eggs are better suited for those with a taste for darker chocolate and lower sweetness. The caramel flows like maple syrup rather than being semi-solid like the KamAlive eggs.
The Range: This is the only Easter themed product. Coco Caravan have a wide range of solid and filled chocolate bars and . All organic and as ‘raw’ as chocolate can get. I rather like the look of their Mocha Latté – Blonde chocolate made with raw cacao, cashew, coconut and coffee
Where to Buy? Direct from Coco Caravan or in-store at Planet Organic.
Booja Booja Easter Eggs Collection
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soya, Competition, *Actual* Chocolate Eggs Allergens: Depends on the truffle, but all contain or may contain Nuts
Taste Test: Creamy, chocolatey, nutty, salty perfection. Cannot say more, experiencing bliss . . .
The Range: Booja Booja do not produce actual Easter Eggs. That would not be fair on other makers of Easter Eggs. When Booja Booja make something, like truffles, or ice cream, they are always divinely good and win every award, competition and taste test they enter.
So in a mark of kindness to other producers there are no Booja Booja Gluten Free Vegan Easter Eggs. However they do offer beautiful hand painted Easter Egg ‘containers’ for their tantalising truffles. This is the Booja Booja Easter Egg Collection. If you do get one of these instead of a chocolate Easter Egg, be delighted! You might even choose to share one of the truffles. Or half of one. Maybe the smaller half. Or not.
Where to Buy? Anywhere that stocks delicious things. Oh, more detail? Check Booja Booja’s stockist locator. Their map of the UK looks hilarious. So many stockists!
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Nuts, Wheat Allergens: Soya
Taste Test: Oh no, I have not tried these yet. What am I missing?
The Range: Explicitly stated as suitable for coeliacs and vegans, Cocoa Libre have two gluten free vegan Easter Egg products. The first is a traditional shaped and sized Honeycomb Easter Egg. The second is a little box of cute Rice Milk Chocolate Chicks. The use of Rice Milk keeps the chocolate creamy and dairy free.
