Just the absolute best Chocolate Easter Eggs that are Gluten Free and Vegan in 2019. Several not sold on the high street but absolutely worth an Egg hunt!
This is not a complete laundry list of all the gluten free or vegan Easter Eggs that exist. These are just the very best, best tasting, best value, best looking, that are both gluten free and vegan. These are the eggs to choose if you like to enjoy and share great chocolate confectionery that just happens to be in the beautiful chocolate egg form. I have bought and taste-tested them all (with some help) in order to pick out those really worth recommending.
All the eggs are Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Vegan. One is Nut Free. One is Sugar Free and Diabetic or Keto Friendly!
Disclaimer – several Gluten Free Vegan Easter Eggs were harmed during the taste testing for this review!
Bianca Morton Artisan Chocolate Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Vegan, Soy, Refined Sugar Allergens: Cashews
Taste Test: Bianca makes Great Taste and Academy of Chocolate Award winning chocolates and it really shows. Home made in the UK with simple quality ingredients. The single origin chocolate is simply a class apart from most other Chocolate Eggs. Absolutely delightful presentation and a gorgeous natural flavor to match. Probably *the* single best range of Chocolate Eggs in 2019.
I adore Dark Chocolate. Do you? Go for her Vegan Dark Chocolate Eggs. There are no better! Not *yet* a Dark Chocolate fan? Worry not, she offers Milk Chocolate Eggs too.
The only problem is they are too pretty to eat. Nope, broken, eaten, adored!
Where to Buy? Yumbles or direct from Bianca Marton
Plamil ‘So Free’ Dark Chocolate Egg
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Vegan , Added Sugar Allergens: May Contain Soya
Taste Test: Earthy cacao flavor. Sweetness from the Xylitol is subtle but there to please and thankfully there is none of the cool minty aftertaste that Xylitol can give. Let these melt in the mouth to fully appreciate. Marketed as a “treat for kids of all ages”. I endorse this as a kid 42 years young.
This is a genuinely no added sugar and low sugar egg. Diabetic, Keto and Low Carb friendly. Most eggs rock in with between 20 to 50 grams sugar. This one has just 1 gram. One gram sugar!
The Range: The Plamil Easter range features both regular and mini-eggs. Both sizes are available as Organic Fairtrade or as the Xylitol sweetened No Added Sugar variety. Plamil also have some genuinely admirable ethical business practices. Buy from Plamil and feel good about doing so, then enjoy the chocolate.
Where to Buy? Buy direct from Plamil or via their Stockists.
Aldi Moser Roth Chocolate Egg & Hazelnut Truffles
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Vegan. Wheat Allergens: Hazelnuts (in the Truffles only) & May Contain Other Nuts
Taste Test: With 65% cocao solids and a generously chunky shell the chocolate pleasure from this egg is comparable to a dark chocolate bar. The flavor is still gently sweet rather than bitter. No ‘extreme chocolate lover passport’ needed to love it! At £4.99 for 200 grams including 3 Ferraro Rocher style truffles this is a fantastic deal. Definitely the best value gluten free vegan egg in 2019.
Where to Buy? In-store at Aldi only! Worth finding. I had to get a friend to buy mine!
Coco Caravan Caramel Filled Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soya Allergens: Cashews
Taste Test: The only choice you need if you are in search of a filled egg. Well. Half Egg. Worry not, these are truly artisan mini chocolate caramel creme eggs. The chocolate is lovely and the caramel flows like maple syrup. Decadent, fine, divine.
The Range: This is the only Easter themed product. Coco Caravan have a wide range of solid and filled chocolate bars . All organic and as ‘raw’ as chocolate can get. I rather like the look of their Mocha Latté – Blonde chocolate made with raw cacao, cashew, coconut and coffee!
Where to Buy? Direct from Coco Caravan, in-store at Planet Organic or online from Ethical Superstore.
Moo Free Cheeky Orange Egg
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Soya, Wheat Allergens: May Contain Hazelnuts
Taste Test: Orange crystals infused into the chocolate shell produce an authentic chocolate orange flavour. Rice powder substitutes for milk to ensure creaminess, and it works. Gentle, orangey, creamy, chocolatey and simply sweet.
The Range: The Cheeky Orange is joined by a Honeycomb, Original Organic and all new Caramelized Hazelnut Egg. All are free from Gluten, Dairy, Soya and Wheat. Visit the Moo Free range.
Where to Buy? Holland & Barrett, Tesco, Whole Foods and many more, hit up the Moo Free Stockist Locator
Cocoa Libre Rice Milk Egg
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Vegan, Nuts, Peanuts, Wheat Allergens: Soya
Taste Test: Creamy enough that I defy even the most dedicated dairy lover not to adore the mouthfeel. No compromise on taste needed to enjoy this one.
Where to Buy? Direct from Cocoa Libre, Holland & Barrett in-store or another one of their stockists
D&D Chocolates Mini Eggs
Free From: Gluten, Dairy, Vegan, Nuts, Soy Allergens: None!
Taste Test: 55% Cacao Solids are joined only by Sugar, Vanilla and Sunflower Lecithin for a super simple ingredient list. The solid little eggs are wonderful to bite into and full of strong cacao flavour. Rather than being entirely smooth and creamy they appear to have a slightly granular texture. This may be due to use of granulated sugar. I loved them!
The Range: D&D Chocolates offer a variety of full sized and mini Chocolate Eggs all with the same superb free from credentials. They have Raspberry Crumble Mini Eggs! Added to basket. There is also a range of Easter Eggs made with Carob. For free from credentials, D&D Chocolates are unbeatable.
Where to Buy? Direct from D&D Chocolates

Created specifically for their child with multiple food allergies, Amanda’s Own claims to be the “home of great tasting chocolate that is completely dairy-free, tree nut-free, peanut-free, egg-free and gluten-free!” Amanda’s Own is known for kid-friendly chocolate, so it is no surprise that they are offering up quite a sweet little line of Easter chocolates. Personally, I would love a few of those Baby Bunnies for some low-guilt nibbling! There other cute allergy-friendly offerings include bashful chocolate bunnies, bunny jelly bean bags, and a dairy-free chocolate Easter bunny box.
