The Lodge Space is a health club, cafe, kitchen, yoga studio and fitness centre in Canada Water just opened as of September 2017. It offers great coffee, delicious food, warm & relaxing indoors, beautiful outdoors. Activities include Yoga, Pilates and a range of Fitness classes including High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Holistic treatments including a range of Massages are available. Spin classes are planned in the near future
I have been a Canada Water resident since 2011 and adore what it has to offer. When friends & colleagues are considering relocation I almost always pitch Canada Water to them. Why? Canada Water is superbly connected and proximate for Central London. Lots of fantastic green spaces. With the exception of one road, almost no traffic. Big new developments in recent years include the quirky upside down pyramid Library and the Printworks music and arts space. There are plans for a foot & cycle bridge to Canary Wharf.
All very good but I have been waiting for a place like The Lodge Space. Now it has arrived my personal Canada Water is complete.

Rustic stone and wood and big plush leather chairs makes for an earthy, comfortable place to relax
The Lodge Space Drinks & Eats
Let us start with the coffee. The beans are from Ozone Coffee Roasters. Ozone roast a superb range of single origin beans and blends including a truly fantastic swiss water process decaf. This is coffee to savor black for the wonderful complex flavors. Notes of berries, citrus, caramel, nuts, chocolate. Not all in the same cup of course!
If you prefer your coffee with milk you have the choice of regular (dairy) and soy, coconut, almond and oat. I don’t know of another cafe with so broad a range. All the better to suit different tastes and dietary needs.

Gorgeous treat of Dark Hot Chocolate & Toasted Banana Bread
Whilst ensuring that the food is first of all great the chef at The Lodge Space is also designing dishes that are mostly gluten free and vegetarian or vegan. Plating is beautiful and every dish I have sampled so far has been something special. You must try the Powerhouse Pancakes. These are beautifully banana flavored fluffy clouds that soak up just the right amount of maple syrup.

Banana & Chia Pancakes drizzled in Maple Syrup
For something eye-catching, delicious, gluten free, vegan and healthy try the Veganyasa.

Veganyaya of Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Beans, Minted Zucchini & Cajun Tofu.
Save room if you can for a Brownie or the Banana Bread. Both are warmed before being served together with toasted banana and berries. Again gluten free.

Brownie, gluten free, vegan, and please don’t take the last piece :-)
The Lodge Space Fitness

This room is used for the exercise classes such as HIIT, Boxercise & Pilates
I have sampled a Pilates class and a “Done in 21” High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) style class.
Hannah led the Pilates class and it was my first. I am an experienced Yogi so some of the movements were familiar but I benefitted from Hannah’s confident instruction and demonstration. Similar to the best Yoga teachers I have known Hannah was mindful and attentive to participants, noting restrictions and different levels of ability and providing suggestions and encouragement. Hannah also offered variations of many movements suitable for beginner, intermediate and those seeking challenge.
One of my take aways was discovery of the Pilates staple of Hundreds, which I have since woven into my personal fitness practice.
Sabina took me through the Done in 21 High Intensity Interval Training. I am a very experienced HIIT trainee and the routine Sabina challenged me with was like all great HIIT workouts, varied, interesting and demanding. Emphasis was switched between muscle groups to allow continuous challenge to the heart and lungs. Sabina, a Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor and Certified Boxing instructor delivers several other classes at The Lodge Space including a 10 Rounds boxing exercise class I am keen to join.
The Lodge Space Yoga
Hatha, Vinyasa and Kundalina yoga classes are available. There are also classes designed for kids, teens, families and pregnant mums to be. I am yet to take a class but do love the studio the classes are held in. With sufficient privacy, the classroom has big windows that face onto Southwark Park and out to the lovely little Lodge rock garden. It is a little haven of tranquility 5 minutes walk from the busy Canada Water bus, overground and underground hub.
The Lodge Space Massage
A range of holistic treatments are offered from a skilled list of practitioners. Both their bios and the treatments can be browsed via the Lodge treatments page.
In the very near future I will take advantage of the Deep Tissue and Swedish Massages and report back here. I already know that these massages, given with skill and kindness, leave me with a wonderful feeling of wellbeing, rejuvenation and vibrancy. I emphasise that until you have experienced a great massage from a talented masseuse you really do not appreciate what a good thing you are missing. They can invigorate the body and mind, speed recovery from intense exercise, relief tension or simply deliver feel good pleasure after yet another Monday to Friday of commuting drudgery and to sitting at a desk most of the day. Work, commute, sleep, work, commute, sleep. Familiar? Treat yourself.
Go to The Lodge Space
Seriously, do go. Drink Coffee. Eat gorgeous gluten free and vegan food. Lounge around in the comfortable social and eating area. Visit to practice yoga, get fit or indulge in a massage. Join me in appreciating this amazing new place. I will see you there, but please, always leave at least one serving of the pancakes! I might be right behind you :-P
